This 2009 I am really planning to pursue my career in nursing. I shall take NCLEX, etc. Though I am a registered Nurse here in the Philippines, I don’t plan to work here in Manila, as we all know Nurses here are overworked and underpaid. But who knows, I still might be one of them…Those who are ignorant always always sees nurses as medical assistants. This is a wrong connotation as medical assistants are professionals who are always required by law to work under the direct supervision of a licensed doctor/physician or registered nurse whenever they provide direct patient care procedures. There are many Medical Assistant Schools available, being a Medical Assistant includes loads of work, therefore requires knowledge, skills and attitude. Work ranges from administrative duties to direct patient handling. From answering calls to updating patient’s file and medical records, they also arrange for hospital admissions and laboratory services. I am familiar with all these because I am a registered nurse. And if worst comes to worse I know I could work as MA in the US. This will definitely be easy for me, as I have already performed bedside Nursing, been assigned to ER, OR, Pedia. I’ve been rotated to almost all departments, giving me a good perception and orientation of Nursing Care. I still definitely hope of being a USRN… hopefully this year.

We were at the hospital for two consecutive nights last week because of some blood exams for my husband. As I was walking along the corridor, trying to pass time while waiting for the results, I looked at some advertisements and announcements posted at the board. I've seen the hospital's need for a medical assistant . I believe the medical world has always been a very demanding service industry in most countries. So no wonder, there is already a formal online training for this. There's a lot of medical assistant schools already , and anyone who is considering this field should be careful enough when choosing. I have seen a Medical Assistant Certificate Program being offered online at St. Augustine Educational Services , and you can have your course online. It is designed and reviewed by professionals in order to provide its students with the best in online training.I am giving this option to my friend, who is currently looking for an online school. Looking For A Second Job?
Now that US is experiencing recession, let us admit that yes everybody is affected. In fact, it has a big blow in our economy since some of our Overseas Filipino Workers opted to go home. What a bad timing isn’t it, especially that Christmas is almost near.
Last night, I had a chance to chat with my friend’s sister who is based in California. She told me that she is now preparing to take online classes for medical assistant. Though there are medical assistant schools to choose from over the net, she would like at least to decide the finest school and has most of hospital accreditations. And of course, she needs to take into account the fees too. Good thing about this is she is not losing hope and even looking at the positive side of life. In fact, she is even grateful cause having a degree in medical assistance could even bring her to different places. And why not?
I just wonder if my future mother and father-in-laws are considering medical assistant as their second job in the US. Since they are based in Iowa, I am pretty sure that only a few people are taking lessons on this. I’ll try to check out with my husband-to-be about their other plans.
