The Medical Assistant

The role of a Medical Assistant has grown increasingly important in today's healthcare field. Medical Assistants chart each patient's medical history. Additionally, they take height, weight, pulse respiration, temperature, prepare and administer injections, apply bandages and dressings and record electrocardiograms. Medical Assistants will also be exposed to the opportunity to perform many of the administrative skills so valuable in any busy office. Responsibilities may include patient record maintenance, patient scheduling, insurance form processing and basic bookkeeping. A Medical Assistant's knowledge of office software skills and terminology help make the role a necessity in any medical office. Many are now choosing to study online at schools such at the St. Augustine School of Medical Assistants because of the convenience and affordable of these programs when comparied to the traditional programs of many medical assistant schools.
